Moments Lab Announces Video Discovery Initiative in Collaboration with AWS to Unlock Media Archives and Turn Content into Revenue
New initiative leverages AWS partner programs, pre-negotiated (indexing) rates, and AI video understanding to remove barriers and accelerate ROI for global media organizations to monetize their assets
Announced today at NAB Show in Las Vegas, Moments Lab, the leading AI-driven video discovery company, is collaborating with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help media and entertainment companies unlock the value of their video archives by removing the cost and complexity barriers traditionally associated with migration and video indexing.
The approach leverages AWS resources alongside validated partners for migration, video understanding, and system integration. This initiative enables large Media and Entertainment (M&E) companies to accelerate the migration of hundreds of thousands of hours of video content to the AWS environment, where it can then be indexed and searched with Moments Lab’s award-winning multimodal AI, removing the friction point to launching video indexing projects at scale.
“The media industry is sitting on an immense amount of untapped value,” said Phil Petitpont, Co-founder and CEO of Moments Lab. “While more than 80% of video consumption now happens on digital and social platforms, our customers tell us that just 1 to 4 percent of their content is being monetized. With AWS, we’re changing that—turning archive migration into an ROI-positive investment from day one and enabling teams to monetize their full media library.”
Proven Impact: Turning Archives into Revenue
The initiative is already delivering massive returns for global content leaders. By utilizing Moments Lab on AWS, Banijay Entertainment targets turning an $800-per-clip model into a $10-per-clip workflow. This 98% cost reduction, paired with a 75% faster turnaround time for archive-based content, allows media groups to turn dormant media libraries into active revenue streams while reducing social media production overhead by a factor of ten.
This scale is made possible by a continued breakthrough in processing efficiency; Moments Lab has delivered a 4x reduction in the cost of indexing, effectively making large-scale video understanding irrelevant as a cost barrier. As a result, organizations can move beyond selective indexing to unlock their entire content history through natural language prompts.
Addressing the Global Archive Challenge
According to the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA), more than 150 million hours of audiovisual content are held in global archives. However, despite the scale of these archives, many organizations leverage only a small fraction of their content for ongoing production and digital distribution, limiting their ability to fully capitalize on existing intellectual property. Through this initiative, Moments Lab and AWS are enabling a more cost-efficient, end-to-end approach that allows M&E companies to migrate, index, and activate their archives in a single workflow—turning what was historically a cost center into a revenue-generating asset.
The initiative is available to qualifying companies working with AWS and its Partner Network. Customers can engage with Moments Lab or their AWS account teams to assess eligibility and begin with pilot projects to validate ROI before scaling to full archive transformation.
