Moments Lab works with nearly all standard video, audio, and image formats used in the media and broadcast industry. We support formats like MP4, MOV, MXF, AVI, and MKV, as well as a wide range of codecs including H.264, H.265, ProRes, DNxHD, and AV1. For audio, we accept files encoded in AAC, MP3, Opus, and more. Image formats such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and HEIC are also compatible. If you’re working with a less common format, just reach out to our team—we’re happy to confirm support or offer a solution.

Moments Lab is a cloud-first solution designed for speed, remote access, and continuous updates. However, we also offer a hybrid model where you can bring your own storage while still using our platform in the cloud.

Yes, MXT-2 is our own patented AI, purpose-built for the media and entertainment industries. When we founded Moments Lab, we realized that most existing AI systems were expensive to scale, hard to deploy, and not well suited to production and broadcast use cases. So we built MXT-2 to deliver a human-like understanding of video, while staying energy-efficient and affordable. In some cases, we may supplement our system with third-party tools, for example if a client wants to use AWS celebrity recognition or needs a specific provider of transcription for certain languages.

To make your video searchable, we need to generate descriptive metadata using a proxy version of your content. This proxy is stored on the cloud for as long as you want to use our search engine. If your original content is stored elsewhere—on-premise or in your own cloud environment—we can work in a hybrid model with storage pathways pointing back to those files. If your goal is only to analyze your footage and export metadata, we’ll remove the proxy files from our system after 30 days, at no cost.
